(Video) Inspiring Japanese Violinist Plays Violin With Her Prosthetic Arm

Manami Ito, a violinist had a traffic accident that costs her left arm when she was only 20 years old. Using a prosthetic arm, her love for violin grew even stronger than before.

As a child, Manami hated playing the violin. Though, as she lost her arm and could no longer play the violin like she used to, she realized that the violin was a precious thing for her.

Manami got an artificial later but soon realized that it was hard for her to play. Then, she got a customized prosthetic that would make her take back the ability she lost.

Even with the customized prosthetic, she still couldn’t play the violin well. “There was no sound,” she said in the interview.

After practicing for years in secret, she’s back in the game and currently performing on stage as a professional.

On the side, she’s Japan’s first amputee nurse and a Paralympian swimmer.

“I’m sure there’s a lot of people suffering from a low point in their lives – suffering from pitch darkness. But when they look at me, maybe they’ll think “I’ll just try my best,” because I’m working very hard to play the violin,” she said.

“I hope many people will think similarly.”
