(Video) Stores In US Board Up Windows, Hire Extra Security In Case of Post-Election Violence

Rows of stores across the U.S. are taking precautions by building wooden walls to prevent any damages to their stores during election-related protests.

“While we intend to open shops, selected stores in major cities will be built with wooden walls to prevent election-related incidents,” said Nathan Strauss, Tiffany’s spokesman.

Retailers around the U.S. want to avoid falling victim to damage like what happened last summer, where shops were badly damaged and merchandise was stolen during a George Floyd death rally in Minneapolis.

Tom Buiocchi, CEO of ServiceChannel, an online platform that connects retailers with local contractors, said 750 stores had ordered wooden boards to be used as walls in front of stores since October 27.

Retailers are also hiring extra security guards to protect stores, adding extra lighting, and tying down shopping carts outside to discourage prospective looters.
