Woman Who Allegedly Stole Over RM53 Million From Casino Hunted By South Korean Police

A particular Malaysian employee who was in charge of fund management in Landing Casino that is located at Jeju Shinhwa World has gone missing after a large sum of money mysteriously disappeared and also when the theft was discovered. The woman was said going on a year-end holiday. Jeju Shinhwa World is actually one of South Korea’s largest integrated resorts. The amount of money that got lost is 14.5 billion won (RM53.3 million).

According to a report, the management of the specific casino has since filed a complaint with the police against the Malaysian woman and a manhunt is now underway. Considering that 500 million won in 50,000-won bills would weighs about 10 kilograms, the missing cash in total would at least weigh 290 kilograms. That is why they believe that the amount was taken periodically.

Seogwipo police officer said, “The money seems to have been taken away over a period of seven to eight months. But it seems that the theft was not noticed as a large amount of cash was always stored in the safe”. A report also stated, “Apparently, officers managed to secure CCTV footage from the casino but the footage at the time of the theft had been erased”.

The huge sum of missing money does not belong to Jeju Shinhwa World or even Landing Casino. It actually belongs to Landing International Development that is the parent company of Landing Entertainment Korea. The police believe that the culprit involved could be more than one person was  in the theft as the missing cash weighs in at 280 kilograms, making it too heavy for one person to carry. Officers also believe that the money is still on the island as it is difficult to move large sums of cash out of the country via airports or seaports.

In a latest update, the police officers have discovered an amount of 8.1 billion won (RM29.7 million) at the Malaysian woman’s residence who works at the Casino.
