The Iconic “Lawak Kampus” Will Be Adapted As An Animated Series

Among all the art magazines and graphic novels from local artists in Malaysia that existed in the current market, Gempak or now known as Gempak Starz is the only magazine that is still in the public eye up until now.

One of the most famous series published by Gempak Starz would be the one and only “Lawak Kampus” series, an iconic work by Keith that tells all about life in high school involving teenage and adult characters with various habits, temperaments, and also problems.

Lil Critter Workshop’s Executive Producer that is Walid Omar said that his party got permission from Kadokawa Gempak Starz (Gempak Starz) to officially publish the animation. The TV animated series “Lawak Kampus” will target audiences of children and families around the Asia Pacific with 10 episodes that will be hilarious.

The studio said, “This animated series aims to cultivate the theme of friendship and acceptance for a year in school”. Thus, Lil Critter Workshop thanked Kadokawa Gempak Starz for believing in allowing them to bring this popular comic from books to television screens.

“The opportunity to introduce new fans to the world of “Lawak Kampus” is a dream that will come true for our team. We are too happy to further develop these ‘crazy’ and ‘colorful’ Malaysian characters into ‘living’ animations” he added. Meanwhile, Kadokawa Gempak Starz Executive Director General Chris Yew is looking forward to seeing their animated comics displayed on television for the first time.

“Our Gempak Starz team here is very much looking forward to the publication of “Lawak Kampus”. We fully believe in the creativity of Lil Critter Workshop to transform our legendary comics for TV viewers,” he said. “Lawak Kampus” comics have been a phenomenon in the country since 2003, first printed in Malay, Mandarin, and English.
