With the increasing number of COVID-19 cases on a daily basis, it is certainly a cause for concern among the general public. However, do not worry because Malaysians are getting closer to getting the supply of vaccines that are expected to be received by the end of February.
According to the Ministry of Health Malaysia (MOH), the public can start registering for a vaccine injection soon. Through the MOH’s sharing on Facebook, the Minister of Health, Dato ‘Dr. Adham Baba explained about the acceptance of the vaccine. Follow the sharing below.

Registration for vaccine injections will open soon.
Registration for the public receiving the COVID-19 vaccine in the country will open soon, said the Minister of Health, YB Dato ‘Sri Dr. Adham Baba. Speaking while being a guest on the DR Talk program on RTM last night, Dr. Adham said, the government aims to vaccinate 70% of the population or 23 million people to form group immunity.
According to the National COVID-19 Immunization Plan, vaccination will be implemented in three phases:
Phase 1 – front row
Phase 2 – high-risk group (chronic disease) and senior citizens aged 60 and above
Phase 3 – civilians aged 18 and above
Dr Adham said the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine, which will be accepted by Malaysia at the end of February, has been given conditional approval by the NPRA.
Apart from Malaysia, 49 other countries have also given approval and some countries have already used the vaccine, he said. For the record, the Pfizer vaccine is also the first COVID-19 vaccine to be approved by the WHO for emergency use.
Dr. Adham said, the 4 goals of COVID-19 immunization are:
1. Protect the front line
2. Reduce mortality
3. Form group immunity
4. Break the chain of infection On the people’s acceptance of the COVID-19 vaccine
He said, the MOH survey found that most of the people agreed. The online survey on 21 Dec-28 Dec 2020 was attended by 212,000 respondents.
1. 67% agree (90% believe the vaccine is effective)
2. 17% uncertain
3. 16% disagree.
For the 17% who are unsure, it is because they are worried about side effects and the effectiveness of the vaccine. MOH will conduct surveys and surveys from time to time to find out the people’s acceptance, he said.
“As of Jan 13, about 32 million people worldwide have been vaccinated with the COVID-19 vaccine. This shows that this vaccine is accepted by the world community. “However, vaccines are not the solution. After being injected, we still need to practice the new norms” he said.
