A Surfer Was Rescued After Writing The Word ‘HELP’ On A Remote New Zealand Beach

A surfer was rescued after writing the word ‘HELP’ on Karekare Beach in New Zealand. The man was initially surfing on his own, but his surfboard was washed away by the waves.

He was then washed away by the waves before he was severely hit by a rock in the area. The victim was then stranded on the beach before having to crawl for two hours to get to a safer place.

It was reported that the surfer lost his way after efforts to find a way out of the area failed. He then wrote on the surface of the beach sand for help.

Since he had no other choice, he then wrote the word ‘HELP’ to attract attention for further assistance.

He was lucky after the message he wrote was noticed by two women who happened to be walking on a trail not far from the beach area.

The woman contacted a local surf club before two rescuers arrived on a jet ski. After providing emergency assistance, the victim was then rushed to the hospital for further treatment.

Search and Rescue supervisor John-Michael Swannix said the man was fortunate to be rescued.

“With Auckland in alert level 3 (Covid lockdown), not as many people are out and about at the moment so it’s also lucky someone was walking the track at that time,” he said.
