Disney Closing Down Blue Sky Studio, Studio That Once Popular For Making ‘Ice Age’ Movies

Surely many know that before this, Disney had bought 20th Century Fox in March 2019 and all its assets had been transferred to Disney. Now, Disney will be closing the operation of the largest animation studio, Blue Sky Studios in April.

Blue Sky Studios was founded in 1987 by Alison Brown, David Brown, Michael Ferraro, Carl Ludwig, Dr. Eugene Troubetzkoy, and Chris Wedge. This animation studio is famous for producing a variety of great works especially ‘Ice Age’ films.

According to Deadline, the closure of the animation studio will result in 450 workers losing their jobs. Not only that but the film they are currently making titled ‘Nimona’ has also been canceled despite having 10 productions left.

Disney made the difficult decision after taking into account the current economic reality factors that have plagued the film industry.

“Given the current economic realities, after much consideration and evaluation, we have made the difficult decision to close filmmaking operations at Blue Sky Studios,” said the studio spokesperson.
