The Game

The story takes place twenty years after a zombie apocalypse from the eyes of Joel, a man who has lost his family and teamed up with Ellie, a girl he met along the way. From here, these characters display familial relationships and the value of recovering what has been lost. It becomes a heartbreaking journey for both as they journey across the country fighting hostilities and depending on one another for the sake of survival.

Neil Druckmann, the creative director of the game along with Chernobyl‘s creator, Craig Mazin is to write and produce the series. Naughty Dog and PlayStation Productions cooperating in ensuring the best depiction of the story possible. Video game adaptations are known to have a negative reputation among fans so ultimate care of the source material is extremely important. This will be the first television series from PlayStation Productions.

The producers confirmed the main cast for Joel and Ellie to be The Mandalorian‘s Pedro Pascal and Game of Thrones‘ Bella Ramsey. Both have worked together briefly in the hit HBO series and fans are excited to see them reunited again.

Following the immense success in The Mandalorian, fans are excited to see him play as the beloved Joel. Some argue that another GOT star, Nikolaj Coster-Waldau is much more suited for the role in terms of physical similarities. Despite that, many are also pleased with the selection. Pascal has given a convincing performance as a father figure in the Star Wars IP. It is likely that he will bring Joel’s character justice.
