The government has agreed to allow cross-state activities for domestic tourism purposes involving the states of the Recovery Movement Control Order (RMCO) starting tomorrow.
Senior Minister (Security Cluster), Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob said, it is guided by some strict conditions imposed.
“Among the conditions is to use the services of a travel agency company registered with the Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture Malaysia (MOTAC).
“Movement only uses tourist vehicles registered with MOTAC, (however) private movement is not allowed,” he said in a press conference on the development of PKP today.
In the meantime, every travel agency company must obtain permission from the Royal Malaysian Police (PDRM) in advance for cross-state movement.
However, it is only applicable to RMCO state areas only, not Conditional Movement Control Order (CMCO) states.
“The movement must go directly to the RMCO states. For example, Pahang RMCO to Terengganu RMCO, directly to the state of Terengganu.
“There are RMCO states to other RMCO states that have to pass the CMCO state, this vehicle must continue its journey to the RMCO state without stopping at the CMCO area.
“For example, from Putrajaya (RMCO) want to go to Melaka (RMCO), then Negeri Sembilan (CMCO), so the vehicle goes directly to the state of RMCO (Melaka),” he added.
Ismail explained that the ban on cross-state movement for private vehicles was due to control constraints from the police.
“So that’s why private vehicles are not allowed, because we get advice from the PDRM in terms of control, but tourist bus vehicles can be monitored,” he said.
Meanwhile, tourist accommodation and tourism activities must also be reported to the police when the application is made.
Information on standard operating procedures (SOPs) regarding this authorization will be communicated through the MOTAC website.
