Malaysians nowadays do not have to travel so far away just to enjoy such a fascinating scenery of nature. This is because, there is a particular hidden gem for tourism located surprisingly in Tasek Gelugor, Penang. Its existence has become quite well known among locals after have been told by many people. The place is called ‘Frog Hill’ which is a nickname given for this abandoned tin mining site. It is located about a 20-minute drive from Butterworth.
‘Frog Hill’ has very beautiful scenery once you climb up the rocks. Some people say that it resembles Jiuzhaigou in China. Even though the weather there is really hot and the rocks are sharp but it is all worth it for good photos and a great experience. This former quarry has amazing natural blueish-green pools that would be an attraction for many.
The interesting part with this place would be, the beautiful pool colors may range between dark aqua, emerald, and also shades of turquoise depending on how clear the sky is on that day. Do not go too early like in the afternoon because you will definitely get sunburn as there are no big trees on the hills. Pack some water and also snacks for the trip because it is going to be a long walk but please do not litter. Also, put on some shoes but not your favorite one because the rocks will leave some stains on the sole.
‘Frog Hill’ is certainly a must-visit place at least once in your lifetime so that you can enjoy the amazing natural scenery. You cannot find something like this elsewhere in Penang or any other places. The hike is not too steep, so it is perfect for friends and also family.
