The CW reboot of the Powerpuff Girls recently announced its cast and it gets all the 90’s kids’ nostalgia in full swing. The iconic cartoon series follows three superhero sisters who were accidentally ‘created’ in a lab by their scientist father and they use their powers to fight crime. Blossom, Bubbles, and Buttercup protect the citizen of Townsville while juggling lessons of growing up.
The reboot will depict the young heroes in their twenties, retired from crime-fighting. However, they will be forced out of hiding when new danger emerges and they were called to save the world once more.
This live-action reboot follows another reboot from Cartoon Network from 2016-2019 which was, unfortunately, less successful.
Dove Cameron As Bubbles
If you’re familiar with the Disney series Descendants, then you know Dove Cameron. With Bubble’s blonde hair, it will be interesting to see them introduce a little darkness to Bubbles. Dove also appeared in Agents of SHIELD and she can certainly pull off a little darkness for Bubbles since the reboot will set her in her twenties. Bubbles might be the most cheerful among the sisters but no one stays that way forever.
Chloe Bennet as Blossom
Although Chloe doesn’t have Blossom’s signature red hair but she is no stranger to the superhero genre as well. Like Dove, Chloe also appeared in Marvel’s Agents of SHIELD, facing many character arcs. It is no doubt that she can carry Blossom’s leadership prowess.
Yana Perrault as Buttercup
Yana Perrault is a Broadway star and is new to the TV world. She is a musician and it will be a smooth addition to incorporate music into the show. Especially since it is a CW trend through its other series like Riverdale, Supergirl, and The Flash. Known as the ‘edgiest’ PPG, Yana definitely fits the gritty character of Buttercup.
