“I Was A Bit Daunted…” – Datuk Nicol Ann David

Datuk Nicol Ann David has recently encountered an individual at the gym where she usually goes who was not wearing a mask and that action made her feel so uncomfortable especially during this COVID-19 pandemic time. She has taken the issue to her Twitter account to make sure that Malaysians be responsible during this dangerous time.

She posted on Twitter saying that she had her first gym session in almost a year and was biking with her mask on. She acknowledges that this can be uncomfortable. She also added that an individual at the gym then comes next to her without a mask and starts working out, which she says made her feel a little daunted.

She said, “I was asking myself – don’t people have to wear masks in gyms as they are closed, low ventilated spaces?”. She also admitted that she did not feel comfortable as she was wearing a mask and she believes that it is safer if everyone does the same.

Nicol David then went over to the individual and kindly asked him to put on his mask, especially since he was next to her. But she added, “I don’t think the person liked after it… but the conclusion goes to all-we have to enforce the rules and really look out for one another”. She then urges everyone to be more conscious of the situation and to practice personal hygiene and physical distancing.

“Let’s all work together to be more conscious of this situation- it’s in our hands to wear our mask, wash our hands and keep our distance,” she added.
