Japanese Man Still Looks For His Missing Wife Since Japan Tsunami In 2011

In 2011, Yasuo Takamatsu lost his wife when a tsunami battered the city of Onagawa in Miyagi, Japan. Two years later, the 64 -year -old Takamatsu managed to obtain a specially obtained diving license to find his missing wife.

To this day, Takamatsu is reported to have dived 470 times with the activity done every week for the past seven years.

“I dive as if I’m going to meet her someplace. I’m always thinking that she may be somewhere nearby,” he said.

In addition to solo diving, once a month, Takamatsu also joins local authorities in conducting search operations to find about 2,500 people whose bodies have yet to be found.

To date, he has found albums, clothing, and artifacts but none that do not belong to his wife.

He said he will keep searching for his wife as long as his body moves.

“In the last text message that she sent me, she said,‘ Are you okay? I want to go home ‘. I’m sure she still wants to come home,” he added.
