Movie Review: Why ‘Demon Slayer: Mugen Train’ Is The Highest-Grossing Anime Film

‘Demon Slayer: Mugen Train’ is a 2020 Japanese animated dark fantasy period action movie which is based on the shōnen manga series ‘Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba’ by Koyoharu Gotouge. The movie that is indeed a direct sequel to the 2019 anime television series, was directed by Haruo Sotozaki and produced by Ufotable. If you liked the animation of Season 1 of ‘Demon Slayer’, you will simply adore this film this is a true masterpiece with a captivating story and music that will make you cry. It is a must-watch movie for any fan of the show.

The movie was released on the 16th of October 2020 in Japan and has earned widespread acclaim from audiences and critics worldwide, praise for character developments, voice acting, action sequences, emotional depth, and themes with more faithfulness to the series. It has grossed over US$420 million worldwide, making it the first Japanese film and first anime film to reach the milestone of US$400 million worldwide box office proceeds.

What ‘Demon Slayer: Mugen Train’ Is About

Demon Slayer: Mugen Train introduces Tanjiro, Nezuko, Zenitsu, and Inosuke on their adventure embarking on a new mission. Together with one of the most powerful warriors of the Demon Slayer Corps, Flame Hashira Kyojuro Rengoku, they will investigate the mysterious disappearance of more than 40 people on the Mugen Train.

What Can Be Said About ‘Demon Slayer: Mugen Train’

The animation for this movie is absolutely breathtaking. Animation team Ufotable is well known for making action sequences, blending 2D environments with CG backgrounds. The fight scenes are excellently choreographed and executed. This movie gonna be insane for demon slayer fans. You all will definitely love the songs and also animations. Some of the scenes will be able to make you cry.

Fans of both the manga and also the TV series will enjoy the movie for the action scenes and the emotional stakes from this arc. The movie of ‘Demon Slayer: Mugen Train’ continues from where the ‘Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba’ TV anime series left off. It’s strongly recommended to watch that before watching ‘Demon Slayer: Mugen Train’. Fortunately, the movie does a good enough job of bringing people up to speed in its opening scenes that it’s not 100 percent needed.
