Pregnant Woman In Tawau Murdered By Her Own Husband Due To Jealousy

Out of jealousy, a particular pregnant woman was murdered by her own husband in a gruesome incident at an oil palm plantation located specifically in Tawau, Sabah. The victim who is in her 20s was found dead in the living room of an unnumbered shared house at Kampung Tanah Merah Checkpoint, Kilometer 50, Jalan Tawau-Semporna. The tragic incident is said to have happened at 5 pm.

According to Tawau District Police Chief that is Assistant Commissioner Peter Umbuas, the police has received the report of the incident exactly at 7.06 pm and immediately rushed to the scene and then launched a hunt on the suspect.

Preliminary investigations found out that the suspect was actually a 22 -year -an old foreigner who worked as a farm laborer there and had fled immediately after the incident. The suspect was finally arrested after hiding for seven hours in an oil palm plantation, which is about seven kilometers from the scene at 12.05 midnight. Also got seized from the scene was a long machete measuring 68 centimeters along with a blue machete sheath and a pair of long pants.

The results of the preliminary investigation found that the motive for the incident stemmed from when the suspect found out that his wife had an affair, but the victim refused to tell more about the affair. He added that there was a pressure mark on the back of the deceased’s neck at the initial investigation and it was suspected to be caused by a sharp weapon. Apart from that, the victim is also believed to be pregnant.

The suspect is currently remanded for seven days for further investigation under Section 302 of the Penal Code for committing murder.
