Japanese Man Arrested For Stealing ‘Pokemon’ And ‘Yu-Gi-Oh!’ Cards From 6th Floor of Tokyo Store

A particular 28-year-old man in Tokyo, Japan has been arrested on suspicion of theft and trespassing for climbing down a rope from a building rooftop in a heist to steal ‘Pokemon’ and also ‘Yu-Gi-Oh!’ cards inside a trading card store and this is according the announcement by Metropolitan Police Department (MPD).

The trading card store is located in a building specifically in the Higashi-Ikebukuro neighborhood. Based on the report made, roughly 80 ‘Pokemon’ and ‘Yu-Gi-Oh!’ cards with the total amount of RM37433.98 were stolen in the heist from the store along with cash in the total amount of RM9732.92 in value.

The man has reportedly to admit to the allegations by saying, “I did it to pay off a debt”. According to a report, the man is a resident of Tokyo’s Toshima Ward and he had apparently gone to the building rooftop and fixed a rope to a railing on the roof and let it hang down. Then he climbed down about five meters using the rope without any safety harness and broke into the store’s window with a tool. He became a suspect after being spotted in video footage from security cameras near the store.

He claimed that he was able to pull off the alleged heist because of his athletic experience. He was quoted by the police as saying, “I was in the rock climbing club in high school, so I wasn’t afraid of heights”.
