Two Elderly Women Cheated Of RM50,000 Each By Investment Company

KUANTAN, April 2 — Two elderly women have allegedly been cheated of RM50,000 each, which they invested in a padi planting scheme in Cambodia about seven years ago.

Pahang Commercial Crime Investigation Department chief Supt Mohd Wazir Mohd Yusof said the two, aged 75 and 65, invested the money after participating in a tour organised by a so-called investment company at a leading hotel here in June 2014.

“The victims claimed that at the programme they were promised returns of RM52,000 each every three months for three years if they took up one lot of padi field valued at RM50,000.

“The victims claim that they signed the letter of agreement in August 2014 after paying RM50,000 each via cheque to an agent of the company,” he said in a statement today.

Mohd Wazir said the women realised they had been cheated after failing to contact the agent and did not get any of the promised returns.
