Artist Paints, Sells Palestinian Flag Helmets. Channels Part Proceeds To Funds

KUALA TERENGGANU, May 21 — Malaysians are showing their solidarity with the Palestinians in various ways, including installing lights in the colours of the Palestinian flag on high-rise buildings, selling helmets emblazoned with the Palestine flag, and denouncing Israel’s aggression on social media.

One of them is Mohd Rozamil Mohd Yatim, who decided to use his talent in airbrush painting to paint the Palestinian flag on helmets, with part of the proceeds from the sales channelled towards humanitarian funds to help the Palestinians.

The 34-year-old said that he painted the Palestinian flag on his helmet because he wanted to express his support as a Malaysian, but did not expect it to receive a good response from the public after he uploaded the pictures on his Facebook account at 8 pm yesterday.

“Alhamdulillah (Praise be to Allah), there is a company that is willing to collaborate with me to produce the helmets with the Palestinian flag, and we are targeting to sell 10,000 units.

“Part of the proceeds from the sale of the helmet, which is expected to cost RM300 per unit, will be channelled to the Palestinian humanitarian funds. I hope this small initiative will be an inspiration to more individuals to use their talents to help Palestine,” he said when contacted by Bernama.

For his unique work, Mohd Rozamil has received orders from dignitaries including the Sultan of Terengganu, Sultan Mizan Zainal Abidin, and also from fans of motorsports and horse racing.

Mohd Rozamil said this was not the first time he had produced works for charity purposes as he had previously produced various drawings on helmets dedicated especially to frontline personnel in the fight against COVID-19.

“A total of 10,000 helmets were sold and the proceeds of RM200,000 were channelled to several funds for the needs of frontliners,” said Mohd Rozamil, who has been actively involved in arts full time since 2015.
