Book Review: ‘The Isle of The Lost’, The First Book For The Descendants Novel Series

This book is actually the prequel to the Disney TV show called ‘The Descendants’ and it one of the most famous series from Disney. The story is nothing like the show. So, reading this will introduce you to how the story begins. The characters and so on. It was released on the 5th of May 2015. This would be such an amazing reading for everyone who loves to watch ‘The Descendants’ series from Disney as this book helps you to understand more about the story.

According to the book that writes, “Legend has it that long ago, the most infamous villains were imprisoned on the Isle of the Lost, cut off from the rest of the world as a punishment for their misdeeds. In this dark and dreary place, the likes of Maleficent, Jafar, Cruella De Vil, and the Evil Queen reside and evil reigns supreme. Mal, Evie, Jay, and Carlos are their descendants, the teenage sons and daughters of the Isle’s most villainous characters, and they are coming of age on the Isle of the Lost”.

The Isle of The Lost follows the story of villains who are cast aside on a magical dome where they are locked away from the kingdom of Auradon. Everyone’s all-time favorite author Melissa de la Cruz is back with her Disney prequel novel for Descendants titled ‘The Isle of the Lost’ and she did not disappoint. The writing and premise of this book will surely enchant young adult readers. The story is snarkily filled with evil banter. Perfect for Disney fans. Melissa de la Cruz is a New York Times and USA Today best-selling author who pens her new book, ‘The Isle of the Lost’ which is the first book in the Descendants series.

In this book, Mal learns from her mother, Maleficent, that the key to true darkness, the Dragon’s Eye, is located inside her scepter in the forbidden fortress on the far side of the island. The eye is cursed, and whoever retrieves it will be knocked into a deep sleep for a thousand years. But Mal has a plan to capture it. She’ll just need a little help from her “friends.” In their quest for the Dragon’s Eye, these four kids begin to realize that just because you come from an evil family tree, being good ain’t so bad.
