1) Your cat feels neglected
There are other things in our lives that demand our attention but that doesn’t mean we can neglect our feline friends. If we fail to provide enough food, clean space, and attention, it may be the reason why our cat runs away from home. They feel neglected and alone where it eventually causes them to find the things they need in other places.
2) Your cat is stressed out
Another possible reason why your cats ran away from home is because of the stress they are feeling. Stress can be caused by a lot of things, for example, moving house, change in the environment, or unfamiliar people.
3) There is another animal’s presence
Similar to the case of a newborn baby in the family, bringing home another pet could also create chaos in your feline’s world. It is an unfamiliar presence to them and they need to adjust to it. Often, they will opt for the easier way which is to run away if not closely watched.
4) Your cat is in heat
If your cat is unneutered, at some point they will feel the urge to mate and will naturally want to get out of the house. A cat in heat is going to detect other cats in their area to mate and if they can’t find one, they most likely will start searching further away from home.
Male cats especially can be stubborn and travel as far away as needed in order to find a mate. In most cases, they tend to forget the way back home and settle in a new place.

If there is something we can relate to, this is it. Your cats can be bored especially when you are not spending time with them or giving them the attention they needed. In order to explore new places, they will take a walk outside and ended up not finding the way back home.
