KPDNHEP Urged To Organise More Sales Carnivals To Promote Local Products

LANGKAWI, Nov 23 — The Ministry of Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs (KPDNHEP) has been urged to hold more sales campaigns and carnivals to allow small and medium entrepreneurs (SMEs) to promote their products.

A chocolate entrepreneur Naimah Natzeri, 36, said the move would help SMEs like her to introduce their products, adding that the sales carnivals could also be a platform for them to bounce back after being affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.

“I think campaigns such as the Buy Malaysian Products implemented by KPDNHEP is a good initiative to help local SMEs, especially new ones like me,” she told Bernama here recently.

She said the ministry should organise more programmes or sales carnivals nationwide to help entrepreneurs to promote their products as well as enable them to learn ways to increase the quality and packaging of their products.

Naimah said the Buy Malaysian Products sales carnival that was held at Dataran Chenang here recently was her first carnival experience, adding that she gained many benefits from the programme.

She said the carnival allowed her to learn how other entrepreneurs promote their products and to do networking.

“During these sales carnivals, KPDNHEP will also review and evaluate our products and give recommendations especially related to packaging and labels, so I learned a lot about the right way to improve the quality of my products,” she added.

Naimah said she started making chocolate and sold them online after her homestay business was badly affected by the pandemic.
