19-Year-Old Youtuber Spends Thousands of Ringgit To Own A Motorhome

KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 28 — When her peers are competing to own a luxury and branded bag or car, this 19-year-old girl, on the other hand, opts to spend thousands of ringgit to buy a bus on auction so that she can turn it into a motorhome.

Owning a mobile home has been a dream for Nur Amira Syahira Azizul Abidin and she has been saving up to make the dream come true by becoming a Youtube content provider since she was eight years old.

The 23-seater Hino bus which she bought at an auction in January last year, has, among others, a rest area, bedroom, kitchen, fans, a generator and cargo space that cost between RM10,000 and  RM15,000. However, she did not disclose the cost of the bus.

“I place more importance on things that can facilitate my work compared to the need to be stylish. In fact, this camper bus gives me more opportunity to spend time with my family,” she told Bernama.

The professional drummer said, although the bus was already 19-years-old, its body and engine were still in good condition, in fact, the modification process took only a year and was completed in December last year.

“I sought the advice of a consultant company as a reference so that all modifications were done without flouting the law and valid on the road.

Syahira who aspires to tour the peninsula with her family said she preferred a simple and neat layout, adding that she obtained much of the idea for the interior after watching Youtube videos.

The Bukit Mertajam, Penang-born lass said the vehicle would not only make it easier for her to travel quickly and safely but would also save on accommodation costs.

“I often travel to make recordings for my Youtube contents. Prior to this, I had to check-in at a hotel or rent a homestay which indeed required a huge cost.

“Furthermore, this is the time for me to spend time with my family besides reducing the risk of getting COVID-19 which is spreading,” said Syahira who has almost 2.7 million followers on Youtube and 1.4 million on her TikTok account.

The eldest of three siblings, she also harbours a dream to have her own campsite in three years and is still looking for a location that is easily accessible and spacious.
