Over 99% of COVID-19 Cases Today Consist of Categories 1 And 2 – Noor Hisham

Today, COVID-19 positive cases in Malaysia were reported to have jumped to 17,134 cases, as informed by the Director-General of Health, Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah just now. The daily cases recorded recently show an increasing trend. But according to Noor Hisham, 99.5 percent of the figure is from categories one and two.

“Of the 17,134 daily cases reported today, 86 cases (0.5 percent) in categories three, four and five. 17,048 cases (99.5 percent) in categories one and two”, explained Noor Hisham in a post on the official social media site.

Citing the same submission, the breakdown of COVID-19 cases to date by category is as follows:

  • Category 1 – 4,722 cases (27.56 percent)
  • Category 2 – 12,326 cases (71.94 percent)
  • Category 3 – 58 cases (0.34 percent)
  • Category 4 – 24 cases (0.14 percent)
  • Category 5 – 4 cases (0.02 percent)

Noor Hisham also informed that the cases in category three involved lung infections, while category four involved lung infections and required oxygen. Meanwhile, the COVID-19 case in category five involved a critical cluster, damaged organs, and required ventilator assistance.
