5 facts to know about these rare diseases according to the Ministry of Health Malaysia:
- There are indeed a total of 6,000 to 8,000 different types of rare diseases to know.
- 75% of the patients are actually children.
- 30% of the patients would pass away before they could reach the age of 6 years old.
- 80% of rare diseases may be caused by genetic factors.
