[June 20, 2022 – KUALA LUMPUR] Today, ASICS SportStyle is excited to announce the launch of the GEL-NIMBUS™ 9 shoe. As is the cyclical nature of design, trends reappear in different forms over time, however key progress always stand out.
First released in 2007, the original GEL-NIMBUS™ 9 quickly became a staple for runners around the globe – due to its industry leading GEL™ technology which provided a smooth, cushioned ride. Seen as a modern development of its time, the stability and comfort of the upper provided wearers with a gentle, glove-like fit. The model went from strength to strength, picking up the Runner’s World magazine’s “World’s Best Shoe” award later that year.
As mid-2000 aesthetics have re-emerged in present day trends, the GEL-NIMBUS™ 9 is appropriately placed for a re-introduction. Contrast colour blocking now defines the familiar design language on the upper. Mixed materials overlay the mesh, giving the silhouette a nostalgic yet contemporary feel. Sporting a segmented midsole, GEL-technology is dispersed around the forefoot and heel giving a performance-level of cushioning and support. The silhouette achieves a balance between Y2K style and a technical, advanced design.
The GEL-NIMBUS™ 9 is available in Men’s iterations in a variety of colours. The curatorial version, UBS-S GEL-NIMBUS 9, is designed by the Kiko Kostadinov studio and the ASICS SportStyle design team, drawing inspiration from an elemental pallet, and inspired by exploration and nature. The available colourways include, Piedmont Grey/Aruba Blue, Rum Raisin/Green Sheen, Abbey Stone/Champagne and Stonewash/Lint.
The GEL-NIMBUS™ 9 launches on 15th of June 2022 and retails at RM629. It is available at ASICS Official Stores and on ASICS.COM.
