Earthquake Debate Interrupted By Earthquake At Liechtenstein

A 4.1 magnitude earthquake interrupted a debate in Liechtenstein’s Landtag. The Landtag of the Principality of Liechtenstein, referred to as the Landtag of Liechtenstein or Liechtenstein’s Landtag, is the parliament of Liechtenstein.

The parliament MP’s debated on whether small European nations need to mandate insurance in the event of an earthquake before the earthquake struck. The video below shows the moment that the earthquake made an impact:

FBP lawmaker Bettina Petzold-Mähr, who was speaking at the time of the first tremor, manage to smile when the earthquake occurred.

However, the second tremor was more violent than the first, which prompted the President of the Landtag, Albert Frick, to postpone the debate.

“So far, no personal injuries or property damage are known,” Liechtenstein police stated. They also received a large number of phone calls from concerned citizens.

The European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre stated that the tremor initially struck 19 kilometers south of the Austrian city of Dornbirn.

Reports show that the earthquakes also struck some parts of Austria and Switzerland. As well as the southern German states of Bavaria and Baden-Württemberg.

A similar incident occurred on May 2020, when a 5.8-magnitude earthquake occurred. It is while New Zealand Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern was conducting a live television interview.

Another incident occurred later in October that year when a 5.6-magnitude earthquake occurred. It is happen during an interview with Iceland’s Prime Minister Katrin Jakobsdottir. She was speaking to the US newspaper The Washington Post when the earthquake struck the country’s southwest.
