Uvalde Students Finally Return to School After Mass Shooting

Uvalde students finally return to school for the first time after the mass shooting on Tuesday morning. The students and parents are all welcomed with big hugs on sidewalks as moral support after the traumatic incident.

Every corner is full of parked patrol cars. Some mothers are also seen wiping their tears away as their children walk away to get inside their new school. Although Robb Elementary is permanently closed, both parents and children seem to be anxious after the incident. Some parents are still unwilling to send their children back to school.

NBC News stated that the surviving students have transferred to other schools in the area. Also, the school district gives online class options to parents who don’t feel safe letting their children return back to school.

According to the news, to make families feel safer, the Uvalde Consolidated Independent School District has upgraded the fencing and security cameras at Uvalde Elementary and hired more police officers and therapists.
That has sufficed for some parents to let their kids go back to school in person.

“I understand about the safety — but me as a parent, from what I saw today, I feel pretty secure,” one parent said.

In addition to that, many private schools offer vouchers to former Robb Elementary students. Thus, some parents opt to enroll their children in private schools. For instance, Sacred Heart Catholic School shows double enrollment for this year.
