Angela Lansbury, A Star In ‘Beauty And The Beast’ Dies at Age 96

Versatile actress from London, Angela Lansbury, confirms to die by her family members at the age of 96. Lansbury is well known for the characters she has played before. Most of them leave a deep impression on the present generation. Her acting is never out of date.

“The children of Dame Angela Lansbury are sad to announce that their mother died peacefully in her sleep at home in Los Angeles at 1:30 AM today, Tuesday, October 11, 2022, just five days shy of her 97th birthday,” her family said in a statement.

The career of the versatile actress, Angela Lansbury

Angela first makes a name for herself as a street-smart maid in “Gaslight.” She successfully lists her name in an Oscar nomination for her movie debut in 1944.

Later she won the Golden Globes Awards in 1945 and 1962 for “The Picture of Dorian Gray” and “The Manchurian Candidate.” She plays a mother who betrays her child and her country in “The Manchurian Candidates.” Meanwhile, in “The Picture of Dorian Grey,” Lansbury played the role of Sibyl Vane, the famous singer.

Angela Brigid Lansbury was born in London on October 16, 1925. Her mother, Moyna McGill, is an actress, and her father, Edgar Lansbury, is a politician.

Unfortunately, when Lansbury was only nine years old, her father died, and at the same time, World War II began. Lansbury’s mother, McGill, decided to bring Lansbury to the US. It is because she worries that London would become the next target of Nazi Germany.

In 2014, Queen Elizabeth II granted the honourary of the Dame Commander of the British Empire at Windsor castle.
