Harrison Ford Will Play As General ‘Thunderbolt’ Ross In Captain America 4

Harrison Ford will replace the late William Hurt as General “Thunderbolt” Ross in 2024’s Captain America: New World Order.

According to Deadline, Harrison Ford, the actor most recognized for his work in the Star Wars and Indiana Jones movie will take over the late William Hurt as General Thaddeus “Thunderbolt” Ross in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

In Captain America: New World Order, set for release in 2024, Ford will make his debut in the role. A month of rumors and speculations suggested that Marvel Studios was considering Ford for the part.

General Ross, played by Ford, is a high-ranking military commander who first appeared in Marvel comics in 1962. He then eventually became the leader of the anti-hero organization, Thunderbolts.

The actor steps into the shoes of Oscar winner, William Hurt who passed away in March at the age of 71, in films like 2008’s The Incredible Hulk and 2021’s Black Widow.

Marvel’s Phase 5 will continue with films like Thunderbolts and Blade after Captain America: New World Order.

Ford Has Not Yet Been Confirmed for Thunderbolts

Ford confirms as the new “Thunderbolt” Ross in the MCU, although despite reports to the contrary, he is only set to appear in Captain America: New World Order.

Moreover, in the comics, General Thaddeus “Thunderbolt” Ross gathered a squad of villains who agreed to take on dangerous missions for the government. Gen. Ross gave them the name Thunderbolts.

The Marvel Cinematic Universe’s version of the team will feature Florence Pugh as Yelena Belova, Sebastian Stan as Bucky Barnes/Winter Soldier. Next, David Harbour as Red Guardian, Wyatt Russell as John Walker/U.S. Agent, Olga Kurylenko as Taskmaster. Last but not least, Hannah John-Kamen as Ghost, and Tom Hiddleston as Valentina Allegra de Fontaine (Julia Louis-Dreyfus).

The release date for Thunderbolts sets for July 26, 2024.

Additionally, Captain America: New World Order is the fourth film in the Phase 5 of the MCU. It will release on May 3, 2024. The film is under the direction of Julius Onah, and from a screenplay written by Malcolm Spellman and Dalan Musson.
