Anything can happen when you are out and about with your family or friends. The worst thing that could happen is if your ATM card is stolen or lost.

Nowadays, replacing an Identification Card (IC) is a walk in the park. You can easily head over to Jabatan Pendaftaran Negara (JPN) and get them replaced. You can even get your IC replaced just by calling them!

However, it is a different story if your ATM card is missing. It will be more of a hassle and you will need to be quick to make sure your money is safe.

Report your missing ATM card

The first thing that you need to do if you notice your ATM card is missing is to report it to your bank. This is the most important thing that you need to do.

One swipe is all it takes to make you lose all your money. In this day and age, thieves don’t even need your pin number to use your bank card. All they need to do is swipe it at the mall or petrol station and your money will be gone.

Below is a list of all the major banks’ numbers in Malaysia:

  • Maybank: 1-300 88 6688
  • CIMB: 03-6204 7788
  • RHB: 03-92068118
  • BSN: 1300-88-1900
  • Public Bank: 03-2179 5000
  • Bank Rakyat: 03- 2692 4600
  • Bank Islam: 03-26 900 900

Once you’ve got hold of your bank, tell them that you bank card is missing and ask them to block the card immediately.

The operator may ask a few security questions and it may take a while but it is necessary in order to block others from using it. After they have blocked your ATM card, you can head over to your nearest bank to make a new one.

Easy right? Hopefully, this information for you in case that something like this happens to you.
