Serdang Hospital Cardiology Centre Operates 12 Dec, Less Waiting Period for Angiography

Serdang Hospital Cardiology Centre, handed over to the Ministry of Health (KKM), will begin operation on December 12, therefore halving the waiting time for angiograms.

Additionally, Health Minister, Khairy Jamaluddin, stated the cardiology centre equipped with the latest equipment will halve the waiting time for angiogram treatment from 18 months to 9 months for stable elective cases. Besides that, the centre will still treat emergency cases immediately.

Moreover, Khairy Jamaluddin also shares a tweet on his official Twitter account regarding additional parking facilities to be provided at the centre.

According to him, for now, Serdang Hospital Cardiology Centre is equipped with a 9-storey parking block with 554 parking spaces. Also, the total cost of the project is RM546 million.

Interestingly, this project is completed with:

  • Four operating rooms
  • Coronary Care Unit (CCU)
  • Cardiology Care Unit (CDU)
  • Cardiothoracic Intensive Care Unit (CICU)
  • Pediatric Cardiothoracic Intensive Care Unit (CICU)
  • Invasive Cardiac Laboratory (ICL)
  • Non-Invasive Cardiac Laboratory (NICL)
  • Cardiac Recovery Unit (CRU)
  • Transfer Medicine Unit (TMU)
  • Supply Centre and Sterile Department (NICL)
  • Cardiac Radiology Department (CRD)
  • Cardiac Emergency Department (CED)

In addition to that, the Cardiology Centre is the first Invasive Cardiac Laboratory (ICL) in the Emergency Department (ED) in Malaysia. It’s the first of its kind in our country.

It’s also the first hybrid surgery board at KKM’s facility. Last but not least, it has the first Tesla MRI Machine specially for the cardiac patient.
