Carlos López Estrada has taken over the directing duty for the upcoming live-action version of “Your Name.”.
Variety reports that the director has been offered a role in the upcoming live-action remake of the successful animated movie. He is also in the process of writing the script for the project.
For your information, “Your Name.” is based on an animated fantasy drama from 2016 that was a big hit and made over $230 million in Japan alone. It has become a national treasure and is loved by many fans and critics.
The story is about two high school students: Taki Tachibana, a high school boy from Tokyo, and Mitsuha Miyamizu, a girl from rural Itomori. They mysteriously began to switch bodies with each other at random intervals.
Although actors for the lead roles have not yet been cast, the planned live-action version will retell their narrative in a new way.
Moreover, Paramount will handle distribution in the United States and other countries. While Toho, the company that released the original animate movie will release this remake in Japan.
Besides, López Estrada is most likely best known for directing the widely praised animated movie Raya and the Last Dragon. Reportedly, López Estrada is currently working on a live-action adaptation of Robin Hood for Disney. Additionally, he made his debut in the film industry with the live-action comedy titled Blindspotting.
