After Two Days, Boy Finally Rescued From Indonesian Earthquake Rubble

On Wednesday, rescue workers in Indonesia continued their search for survivors of the earthquake that killed 271 people. However, the authorities warned that time was running out for anyone trapped due to the rain and the risk of landslides.

A five-year-old boy was rescued from the rubble by rescue workers as the search continued, reported The Guardian. What’s more, the boy is able to survive as he was buried under a mattress.

The rescuers reported that the boy, who had been trapped for two days, appeared to be conscious and composed as they brought him out to safety.

“He is fine now, not wounded,” his relative said. He also added that the boy’s mother had died. “The doctor said he’s only weak because he’s hungry.

“He wants to go home now. He’s been asking for his mother.”

The earthquake that occurred on Monday had a magnitude of 5.6 and caused considerable damage in the town of Cianjur, which is located in the mountains around 75 kilometres south of the capital city of Jakarta.

The area of Cugenang, which was one of the districts that were affected the hardest. And it became the primary focus of recovery efforts. In addition, the authorities believed that at least one village was buried by a landslide.
