Kuala Lumpur’s skyline and several modes of modern transportation can be seen on the obverse, next to the clock face of Bangunan Sultan Abdul Samad.

This represents the passage of time since Kuala Lumpur was officially recognized as a city in 1972. It also marks the beginning of its transformation into the metropolitan metropolis that it is today.
