Leaving A Great Legacy, Learn About Gerard Piques’ Incredible Career

Shocking news for FC Barcelona fans as Gerard Pique announces a sudden retirement on social media last night.

In the video that Pique released, he showed how much love that he has for the club and the journey he had as a Barcelona player.

The video features his childhood videos with Pique narrating what it means to be a Barcelona player. He said that it was a great achievement that he was able to achieve everything throughout his time.

“I’ve always said that there would not be any other team after Barca and that’s how it will be,” he said. “Football has given me everything. Barca has given me everything. You, culers (fans), have given me everything.

Pique ends the video saying that the match on weekend will be his last match at Camp Nou. Barcelona host Almeria this Sunday morning before the World Cup break in the coming weeks.

After that he will be a normal Barcelona fan and will support the team. “I will pass my love for Barca to my children”, Pique says in the video.

Pique achievements as a football player

During his time as a football player for Barcelona and for Spain, he has achieved numerous awards and trophies. He has pretty much won everything that you can as a football player.

Here is a list for all the trophies that we has won:

  • 1x Premier League champion
  • 4x Champions League
  • 3x FIFA Club World Cup winner
  • 3x UEFA Super Cup winner

Not only that, he has many awards during his time. Pique was in the UEFA Team of the Year for 5 times. Furthermore, he was 4 times featured in the FIFA FIFPRO World XI.  Moreover, he was named best La Liga defender for the 2009/10 season.

Pique has 615 appearance for Barcelona with his last match being his 616. Through out his career there, he has netted 53 goals and provided 15 assists.  For Spain, he made 102 caps and scored 5 goals for his country.

What an amazing career that he had! Barcelona fans will surely miss this football legend.
