Thai Man Fell Into Canal And Drowned During Loy Krathong Night

On Tuesday night, during the Thai holiday of Loy Krathong, a man drowned after he and his wife slipped into a canal connected to the Rama VI Dam in the central province of Ayutthaya, Thailand.

According to The Thaiger, after work, the 44-year-old wife and 51-year-old man were invited to a Loy Krathong event. Then, they chose to float their Krathongs at their event since there were not many people and the atmosphere was peaceful.

However, as the couple approached the water’s edge, the husband slipped and fell into the canal. The husband was unable to swim, and his wife fell into the canal while attempting to assist him.

The couple fell into the water near the floodgate, which was located in an area with a high current. As the man realized that he and his wife would soon drown together, he then let go of his wife’s hand. After that, the wife was forced to watch her husband drown in the canal.

Soon after, the wife made it back to shore and get assistance from others. According to another Thai news, it took searchers over four hours to retrieve the man’s body.
