The Oldest Feline Goes To Flossie, A 27-Year-Old Cat!

Flossie, from Britain, has been awarded the oldest feline on earth by the Guinness World Of Records. She is 27 years old. The age might seem young in the human age. Nevertheless, in the cat’s world, 27 years old is considered ‘old.’

A cat is considered an elderly cat once it reaches the age of 11, while 11-year-old and upwards are senior cats. If the cat is 15 and older, it is a super-senior cat.

Thus, Flossie is a super-senior cat. According to the Guinness World Of Records, 27 years equals 120 years in the cat’s world. Even though Flossie is in her old age, she is thriving, still “playful as a kitty.”

Nevertheless, Flossie is now deaf. Inspiringly, her condition does not stop her from being curious about her surrounding. She also quickly adapts to new environments that are introduced to her.

Flossie had been cared by different people before meeting her current owner

Flossie’s first owner was a worker from Merseyside Hospital. The owner took her home in 1995 when Flossie was living as a stray cat. For ten years, her owner cared for her. Sadly, they passed away, and Flossie was cared for by the owner’s sister. Flossie was loved, unfortunately, her second owner also passed away after a decade together.

Soon after, the second owner’s son took care of the 24-year-old Flossie. After three years, the son could not manage the cat, so he handed her to volunteers at Cats Protection in Royal Tunbridge Wells.

Now, Flossie is currently living with her current owner, Vicki. According to Vicki, the cat struggled the first few nights because she could not see in the dark. Besides that, Flossie was managing the new surroundings. Luckily, Flossie now is comfortable with the place, and sometimes sleeps with Vicki.

Vicki is immensely grateful to Cats Protection for introducing her to Fossie. She said, “I knew from the start that Flossie was a special cat, but I did not imagine I would share my home with a world record holder.”
