Japan is one of the cleanest and greenest countries in the world. One of their well-known habits is not to leave rubbish behind. They advocate cleanliness for the world’s longevity and the benefit of the next generation. We could see this during the recent FIFA World Cup match between Qatar and Ecuador.

A TikTok account, @qatarliving, shared a heartwarming video of Japanese people that attended the match and cleaned the place afterwards.

After the match ended, rubbish filled almost all areas in the stadium. Some people just leave the trash behind, thinking cleaners will do it for them.

Sadly, this is the typical mentality many people have: “it’s the cleaner’s job to clean them, not mine.”

However, this video proves that even though it’s not their job, the sense of responsibility in the Japanese people should be praised and followed.

It’s not for the cameras

The interviewer asked if cleaning the stadium was for the camera.

One of the Japanese fans firmly stated no, it’s not for a show.

A Japanese lady added, “We [Japanese] never leave rubbish behind. We respect the place.”

Japanese fans are the real deal

The interviewer was taken aback by the unity of all the Japanese fans who attended the match.

What’s more surprising is that it’s not even a game involving their country. Yet, they were still kind and responsible for picking up the trash after the Qatar vs Ecuador match ended.

He thought only one or two fans would do it, but shockingly, every Japanese fan did the same thing!

Some commentators also acknowledge this good habit of Japanese people:

We should follow their sense of responsibility by cleaning up the place before leaving. It’s a habit that we should respect and practice. Not only will it help clean the world, but it’s also an act of humanity and empathy.

Therefore, wherever we are, we should do what the Japanese do. Don’t leave the rubbish behind!
