Ipoh Listed As One of Asia’s Most Underrated Places!

As the holiday has started, slow down and take your time to discover the beautiful places around Asia. When we say Asia, people would think of Jakarta, Kuala Lumpur, Singapore, Bangkok, and more. It cannot be denied the stated are some of the best places tourists like to visit. 

Nevertheless, how about we delve into surely amazing, but underrated places around Asia?

CNN Travel has listed some lesser-known tourist locations in Asia but very interesting to visit and Ipoh is one of the locations listed in this list! Check out some of the places below:

1) Ipoh, Malaysia

Malaysia is known for the diversity of its people and, of course, the food. Ipoh is the capital city of the Perak state in Malaysia. Its food and white coffee are the reasons to visit this city. Aside from that, Ipoh is rich with hills and caves, which will become your new adventure to discover. Not only that, the architecture of certain places is amazing. Try out these places in Ipoh:

  • Chinese temples of Perak Tong, Sam Poh Tong, Kek Lok Tong
  • Railway Station to the Birch Clock Tower
  • Town hall
  • Old post office

2) Isaan, Thailand

Isaan, Thailand is rich with its historic architecture, dramatic landscapes, and culinary delights. Isaan shared borders with Laos and Cambodia, thus, the cuisine, language, historic sites, and festivals are influenced by the two places. Make sure not to miss out on these places while visiting Isan:

  • Khmer ruins of Phenom Rung in Buriram
  • Mountainous national parks in Loei
  • “Three Whale Rock” in Bueng Kam
  • Bronze Age artifacts in the UNESCO-listed Ban Chiang Archeological Site in Udon Thani.

3) Leshan, China

You can not get over Leshan’s atmospheric view and the food! Most people come to Leshan to see the Giant Buddha, which is the biggest and tallest statue. Aside from that, Sichuan city, and the scenic Mount Emei. Feeling hungry after your adventure? Try out this food:

  • Qiaojiao beef
  • steamed meat with rice powder

4) Skardu, Pakistan

Skardu district is in Pakistan’s Gilgit Baltistan region. Skardu will amaze you with its beautiful, and high mountains! Aside from that, you can also befriend nature, like birds and butterflies. You would not feel disappointed by these places:

  • Deosai National Park
  • Sarfaranga Desert

5) Nikko, Japan

Nikko is a small city that is rich in Shinto culture. It is spot-on for nature lovers.

The park is also home to some of Japan’s famous natural hot springs, making Nikko an ideal autumn or winter destination. From north Tokyo, it only takes 150km to reach Nikko.

6) Dalat, Vietnam

Local Vienamese loves to visit Dalat. Dalat’s fresh mountain air and its pine forest become the reason why the locals visit there. Aside from that, Dalat will reveal to you its architecture from the French colonial times, with its twisting stairwells and whimsical sculptures. 

7) Meghalaya, India

Meghalaya is located in northeast India. Meghalaya means “abode in the clouds.” To see the peaceful, and beautiful landscapes, require you to have a permit. Nevertheless, you won’t be disappointed with its scenery. The place holds a record of being the wettest place on Earth.
