MCMC Affirms Telecommunication Access In Batang Kali Will Be In Its Best Condition Despite The Aftermath Of The Landslide

Today, MCMC released a media statement to ensure that telecommunication access in Batang Kali will not be affected despite the landslide that occurred last week.

MCMC informed through their Facebook page that they are committed to ensuring the SAR (Search and Rescue) operation and media report will be in its best condition.

In their statement, they said:

The landslide at the camping site of Fathers’ Organic Farm in Batang Kali, Selangor, on 16 December 2022 involved 100 victims shocking many Malaysians. After the catastrophe, the SAR team quickly assigned the Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM), along with other agencies like PDRM, Malaysia Civil Defence Force (APM), National Disaster Management Agency (NADMA), The Malaysian Army (ATM), Special Malaysia Disaster Assistance and Rescue Team (SMART) and Department of Survey and Mapping Malaysia (JUPEN) to ensure the safety of victims in affected places. These agencies share the same mission: to save as many lives as they can.

Communication is the most important thing

Furthermore, communication is the most vital element for SAR in this situation. It’s to guarantee the coordination between each team and agency involved in the affected area is in sync. This will make the operation be carried out efficiently. Not only that but media reporters are also working hard to bring the latest updates on the situation. They need to have the best communication services to keep the people updated.

Hence, MCMC commanded the Emergency Disaster and Response Team (EDRT) on 16 December 2022 to work hand-in-hand with the leading telecommunication companies TM, Celcom, Digi, Maxis and U Mobile. They must analyse and quickly move the needed communication assets to the scene. This is to ensure the availability of their services once in need while in the affected area.

MCMC sympathise with the victims and everyone involved
