PALMEX Malaysia 2024 Opens with a Strong Focus on Innovation and Sustainability in the Palm Oil Industry

12th Edition of PALMEX Malaysia, the premier international palm oil exhibition and conference, officially opened today at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre (KLCC). The event, organized by NRG Exhibitions, part of the Fireworks Trade Media Group, was officiated by YB Datuk Chan Foong Hin, Deputy Minister of Plantation and Commodities.

In his opening speech, YB Datuk Chan Foong Hin highlighted the significant contributions of the palm oil industry to Malaysia’s economy and its optimistic growth trajectory, stating, “The palm oil sector remains as a cornerstone of our economic prosperity with export revenue anticipated to reach RM110 billion this year, driven by increased demand from key markets such as China and India, along with stronger crude palm oil (CPO) prices. We expect palm oil exports to grow by 3.3%, reaching 15.6 million tonnes in 2024, up from 15.1 million tonnes in 2023.”

“Innovations spearheaded by the Malaysian Palm Oil Board (MPOB) also open up further avenues of growth including the production of high value palm-based products in the market, especially red palm oil, which is rich in various natural health-promoting antioxidants. MPOB’s research has also led to the successful development of tocotrienol and nano-tocotrienol—super vitamin E derived from palm oil—known for their numerous health benefits. These products have seen significant demand in our export markets,” added YB Datuk Chan.

The opening ceremony was a resounding success, marked by the presence of esteemed VIPs, exhibitors, and industry experts. The event underscores Malaysia’s pivotal role in the global palm oil market and highlights the industry’s ongoing commitment to innovation and sustainable practices.

PALMEX Malaysia 2024 has drawn participants from various sectors, including plantation management, processing, and technology providers. This year’s theme, “Enhancing Sustainable Palm Oil Production through Technology,” reflects the industry’s drive to integrate cutting-edge solutions with sustainable practices.

The VIP tour, led by the event organizers, provided a comprehensive overview of the latest technological advancements and innovative solutions being showcased by exhibitors. Key exhibitors demonstrated how their products and services are contributing to more efficient and sustainable palm oil production. YB Datuk Chan emphasized the importance of sustainable practices, mentioning the Malaysian Sustainable Palm Oil (MSPO) certification: “The implementation of MSPO 2.0 is designed to meet and exceed global standards, ensuring that our palm oil production remains environmentally sustainable and socially responsible.”

One of the highlights of PALMEX Malaysia 2024 is the co-located 4th Edition of World Palm Conference, which brings together top executives and industry leaders from across the globe. The conference provides a platform for in-depth discussions on the challenges and opportunities facing the palm oil industry, with a strong emphasis on sustainability and technological innovation.

PALMEX Malaysia 2024 continues to serve as an essential platform for stakeholders to exchange ideas, explore new market opportunities, and form strategic partnerships. Participants have the opportunity to attend various seminars and conferences where experts share their insights on the latest industry trends, challenges, and innovations.

As PALMEX Malaysia 2024 concludes, the industry looks forward to the continued advancement and adoption of sustainable practices and technologies that will drive the future of palm oil production. “I urge each of you, as leaders in the industry, to fully commit to the implementation of MSPO 2.0. Your participation and dedication are crucial to the industry’s success,” YB Datuk Chan urged attendees. The event has once again proven to be a critical venue for fostering collaboration and innovation in the palm oil sector.

We are also excited to announce that next year, our sister event, the 2nd Edition of Malaysia Palm Oil Expo (MAPEX) 2025, will take place. MAPEX 2025 will provide an opportunity to discover East Malaysia’s massive palm oil industry and further explore the region’s significant contributions to the sector.
