Maxim’s Iron Ladies: A Story of An E-hailing Partner-Driver

In light of the International Women’s Day, Maxim E-hailing shares an inspiring story of a partner-driver who is a single mom that survived domestic violence.

Anizah Ibrahim was born and raised in Melacca. She currently works a full-time job as an officer at a government agency, and does e-hailing as a part-time job. She finished her bachelor’s degree and graduated cum laude at the MARA Technological University (UITM) in Melacca. She is a determined and hardworking woman.

“Back in the day, when I was a student, I also had a part-time job; I didn’t want to ask my parents for money, so I decided to work during semester breaks. That’s how I’ve become who I am now, always trying to work harder and look for extra income,” shared Ms. Anizah Ibrahim.

Her life changed after she got a divorce and faced a period of instability: she had to take care of four children aged 3 to 12 years and support the family all by herself. In addition to her full-time job, she needed to earn extra money to provide a comfortable life for her children.

She joined Maxim in 2024, when her close friend introduced it to her as one of the platforms to earn extra money that offers flexibility. She got an opportunity to earn RM1,000–RM2,000 to support her family, especially in the current economy, with ever-growing prices.

“With Maxim, I got the chance to earn extra money and provide better for my children. With this monthly income, I get to cover my rent, car expenses, education fees, food, and more. I was raised in a comfortable environment, and I want my children to feel the same,” says the heroic mom.

“Driving has also become a part of who I am, and I feel calmer during trips, especially if it’s a long road trip. Also, meeting new people makes me feel more alive, as most of the passengers are very nice and always thank me for driving them safely,” comments Ms. Ibrahim.

Her passion has turned into a source of income that helps her raise her children. Her story is not only shared here. She has 53.9 thousand likes on TikTok and is well-known as Maxim’s female partner-driver in Melacca.

Maxim is beyond proud of her journey as a partner-driver and appreciates her stories. For International Women’s Day 2025, Maxim aims to send this message to all women out there, that success can be achieved through many ways. Maxim E-hailing conducted a survey and discovered that the approximate percentage of female partner-drivers ranges from 6% to 10%.

Female drivers are in high demand among passengers because they feel safer with them. This is especially true for university students, single women, and mothers with children. People making long-distance trips, as well as those traveling at night and/or alone might also appreciate a female driver.

However, there are some people who believe that driving is not a job for women, as being in this field implies doing hard work that is related to long drives, meeting new people, having knowledge about cars, and doing repairs. Maxim refuses to accept the stereotype that a woman’s role is to do housework and raise children.

Maxim E-hailing is working hard to ensure the support of women by listening to and actually hearing their voices and believing that everyone should have the same opportunities. Maxim believes that being heard can have a huge impact on one’s life, and that is why their platform is open to everyone.
