Defending Champions NEW ERA Takes the Crown at PMNC Malaysia Summer 2025
The PUBG MOBILE National Championship (PMNC) Malaysia Summer 2025 has concluded in a thrilling display of skill and determination, catapulting fresh talent onto the regional esports scene. Teams NEW ERA (NWE) and MAQNA ESPORTS CLUB (MEC) have emerged victorious, defending their spots to once again compete in the upcoming PUBG MOBILE Super League (PMSL) SEA Summer in Indonesia. In a parallel display of individual prowess, 27LAMINA dominated the Solo category, claiming the top prize.
The tournament witnessed an impressive turnout of over a thousand teams, representing various university campuses and amateur organizations from across Malaysia. These aspiring champions battled fiercely through the qualifiers for a chance to secure one of the top 10 positions in the Grand Finals and a share of the RM10,000 prize pool. The stakes were amplified in the final showdown as they faced off against established powerhouses and last year’s top contenders: MEC, NWE, AZ SLUMBER (AZ), and DX STREAM (DX).
NWE had faith in the same roster and dominated the Finals to be worthy Champions. The team was the first to achieve the Smash Rule much earlier, hitting the target smash point of 129 from the first match of the last day with a Winner Winner Chicken Dinner (WWCD) and securing it once again in the third match.
MEC was close to the Top 1 spot but missed the target smash point by one point in the first match. They managed to regain their position in the second match, but could not keep the rhythm after NWE ended it all in the final match. MEC features a convincing lineup as the return of VOKEY and AMAZAL together solidifies their performance worthy of challenging other SEA opponents
DX underwent a big change for this tournament with four new members which features their latest young talent, RIOO, nicknamed the ‘Best Player in Sarawak’. On day 1, they achieved an all-time high for PMNC–securing a WWCD with a whopping 28 eliminations, 14 of which belonged to RIOO. Although they did not manage to find the right rhythm to secure Top 2 slots to PMSL SEA. This is a huge chance for PMSL SEA teams to scout and recruit potential players such as RIOO and many others. Will he make an appearance once again in the best regional pro scene?
The Solo category captivated audiences as 833 individual players showcased their mastery of PUBG MOBILE’s diverse arsenal. Throughout the qualifiers, these skilled individuals vied for the coveted “Winner Winner Chicken Dinner” and a portion of the RM3,000 prize pool. The intense competition also served as a prime scouting ground for partnered eSports teams eager to recruit promising new talent.
The Solo Grand Finals saw a captivating duel between 27LAMINA and KIDZJA. In a closely fought battle, 27LAMINA demonstrated exceptional long-range accuracy on the fourth map, securing a convincing win and the title of SOLO champion. Despite his outstanding performance, the eSports community awaits to see if he will be picked up by partnered professional teams.
Eugene Chin, Country Manager (Malaysia) of Tencent Games, said, “It is exciting to see the amazing talents that have risen to the ranks through this tournament. The PMNC was established to nurture local talent and open doors for them to compete internationally. Congratulations to all the winners and good luck for the PMSL SEA Summer 2025 Tournament.”
“Tencent Games’ commitment to fostering the growth of the local esports scene and providing opportunities for Malaysian players to compete on a global platform. The PMNC serves as a vital platform for discovering and cultivating promising talent within the nation’s PUBG MOBILE community”, he added.
