Free Museum Day in Malaysia: Explore 19 Museums for Free on 18 May 2025

Love history, culture, and a good freebie? Then mark your calendars for 18 May 2025, because in celebration of International Museum Day, 19 museums across Malaysia will be offering free admission for one day only!

What’s the Occasion During Museum Day?

International Museum Day is celebrated every year to highlight how museums play a role in cultural exchange and community growth. This year’s theme “The Future of Museums in Rapidly Changing Communities” reflects how these institutions are evolving with the times.

Usually Cheap, Now It’s Free

With museums that focus on Malaysian heritage and culture flinging open their doors without admission fees, you’ll want to mark your calendars for Museum Day. Tickets are already priced affordably at RM2 for Malaysians and RM5 for tourists on most days but now, you can bring the whole family and have enough left for a nice meal after. Win-win!

Activities & More

Some places are going the extra mile with special activities:

  • Islamic Arts Museum Malaysia (IAMM) is offering free entry and fun, family-friendly programs.

  • UR-MU Museum Week 2025 runs from 13–18 May, with guided tours and free entry on 16 May.

Plan It Out

Most museums open from 9 AM to 5 PM, so plan your route, bring your camera, and make it a culture-filled day out!
