National Art Gallery Brings ‘Ipoh Suka Langka’ to Life, Marking a New Era for Arts in Perak

Ipoh is set to shine with creativity as the National Art Gallery celebrates its 67th anniversary with a milestone event ‘Ipoh Suka Langka’ on September 19–20, 2025. The two-day celebration comes ahead of the official opening of the National Art Gallery’s Ipoh branch next year, which will be housed in the historic Pejabat Pos Lama Ipoh building.

The program promises an exciting blend of visual arts, culture, and community, transforming Ipoh into a vibrant hub of artistic expression. Activities will span several iconic locations, including Dataran Dato’ Sagor, Town Hall, Sultan Idris Shah II Mosque, and Ipoh Town.

Highlights include art competitions such as Ipoh Plein Air, Mobilegraphy, Jejak Seni, and a Children’s Coloring Contest. Community-driven activities will keep the energy high with a Skate Jam and a Neon Art Walk, while creative workshops offer hands-on experiences in AR Colouring, doodling, animation screenings, and even cupcake decorating.

Visitors can also look forward to lively stage performances featuring local talents, a spiritual talk (Bicara Rohani) by Ustaz Syed Abdul Kadir Aljoofre, and a Curatorial Session (Rapat Kurator) for art lovers. A special highlight will be the nightly projection mapping show on the Ipoh branch building, combining digital technology and creative storytelling in an immersive spectacle.

The official launch ceremony will take place on Friday, September 19, at 9:00 p.m., featuring the debut of the Ipoh Suka Langka Digitalization initiative and the award ceremony for the “Most Creative Neon Costume” contest.

By bringing together artists, communities, and visitors in a spirit of celebration, Ipoh Suka Langka marks an exciting new chapter for the arts in Perak. The National Art Gallery invites the public to take part in this landmark event, explore the city’s creative heartbeat, and celebrate art in all its forms.
