A Futuristic Ghost’s City Waiting to Awaken in Indonesia?

Once honoured as Indonesia’s city of the future, Nusantara soon earned a chilling nickname. People called it the ‘City of Ghosts‘, where towers gleam without tenants and the silent roads bear no footsteps.

It was built to welcome up to 1.2 million residents. Sadly, fewer than 15,000 people call Nusantara their home. Time to put on our detective hats and find out what’s really behind the mystery.

Everything changed in 2024, the moment former President Jokowi departed from the parliament. Little did everyone know, he was leaving Nusantara’s future hanging in the balance.

Under the leadership of President Prabowo Subianto, Nusantara’s grand vision faced a harsh reality. Its budget dropped from £2 billion to £700 million.

While much of the infrastructure is already visible, many parts of the city remain under construction. Hence, economic activity among nearby communities began to slow down.

Once alive with ambition, Nusantara Capital City now lingers as a quiet memory of what could have been.

The time capsule is here! Let’s wander into the future of Nusantara, a glimpse that might reignite hope for its epic visions.

Flood Alert! Time to Evacuate in Nusantara

Did you know that Jakarta could be swallowed whole by the ocean by 2030? To escape the sinking fate, Jokowi unveiled a daring vision for Indonesia. The rebirth of new capital in the heart of Borneo, Nusantara.

This creative move promised Indonesia a fresh start. Welcome to clearer skies, lighter crowds and streets that actually move!

A Mix of Cultural and Innovation in Nusantara Capital City

As we race toward the future, let’s not lose sight of the roots that make us who we are. Indonesians often speak through artistic details. Take a look at those detailed carvings on buildings and you’ll be amazed.

Sure, Nusantara is all about high-tech vibes and shiny skyscrapers. But a little tradition never hurts. Those iconic Indonesian carvings and patterns can keep the city proudly connected to its heritage.

Green City is Your Whole Life

Green City isn’t just a fancy label; it’s a lifestyle there! A 10-minute walk and you’re basically in nature’s front yard. A perfect spot to recharge your brain with fresh air, it might just reset your mood to do great things.

Go Away Pollution, Come here Sustainability

To hit that net-zero target, Nusantara’s going all-in on trees! Reforestation is their secret weapon to keep the greenhouse gases in check and give the planet a breather.

Who said the future belongs only to robots and machines? It’s beyond that, the real future includes nature, people and a little bit of love.

The orangutan rehabilitation centre in Balikpapan is still going strong, protecting the lives of these adorable and fluffy creatures. A forest for all is the key.

Woops, time is up! Truthfully, all the glimpses should not remain in just imagination. The real question is, when will the Nusantara Capital City be complete? Maybe only the ghost knows it.
