2,500 runners took to the streets at Blue Cap Run 2025, but this wasn’t just any race. From cancer survivors to corporate teams, medical professionals, and members of the public, everyone ran for a single goal: raising awareness and support for prostate cancer.
Co-organised by Yayasan MR D.I.Y. and Universiti Malaya, the event at Gamuda Cove was officially launched by YB Hannah Yeoh, Minister of Youth and Sports, who praised the organisers for blending community spirit, health, and cancer advocacy.
Runners participated in two categories: the 5KM Open Run and 1KM Survivors’ Run, a heartfelt tribute to cancer warriors. A sea of symbolic blue caps turned the track into a moving visual statement of hope and solidarity.
Thanks to the generosity of participants and sponsors, the event raised over RM700,000, all earmarked for the University Malaya Urological Cancer Trust Fund (UCTF) to fund research, patient care, and awareness initiatives.
Zaleha Mohd Mydin, CEO of Yayasan MR D.I.Y., said, “We’re thrilled with the turnout and impact of our first Blue Cap Run. Today celebrates life, courage, and compassion, especially for survivors. Our partnership with University Malaya strengthens our commitment to health causes that matter to Malaysians.”
The day ended with a prize-giving ceremony, lucky draws, and cash vouchers but the real win? Every runner who ran not just for themselves, but for a cause.
Blue Cap Run 2025 proves that collaboration between community, academia, and private sector can make a real difference. Together, they’re running toward a future where prostate cancer can be beaten.
