Sustainability doesn’t need to be complicated, preachy or mahal. That’s the message behind Sayang Green 2026, a three-day eco-focused showcase happening from 16–18 January at IPC Shopping Centre, Petaling Jaya.
Organised by 180 Degrees Brandcom, Sayang Green flips the script on sustainability. Instead of just telling Malaysians why the planet needs saving, it shows how to live greener one small, practical habit at a time.
Think refilling, returning, upcycling and smarter everyday choices. Nothing extreme. Nothing unrealistic.
Why This Matters (Yes, It’s Kinda Scary)
Here’s the reality check:
Malaysia ranks highest among 109 countries for dietary microplastic intake. Yup, tiny plastic particles are already in our food, especially fish. On top of that, we produce around 39,000 tonnes of solid waste daily, with some of the highest carbon emissions per capita in the region.
Translation? Our daily lifestyle choices are catching up with us.
Sayang Green responds by asking a simple question: What if going green was actually easy?

Banks, Cardboard & Credit Cards (But Make It Green)
One of the key partners, Alliance Bank Malaysia, shows how even banking habits can go greener. Their Virtual Credit Cards ditch physical plastic cards altogether less material, fewer emissions, same convenience.
“Sustainability works best when it fits naturally into daily life,” said Gan Pai Li, Group Chief Consumer Banking Officer of Alliance Bank. In short: greener banking, minus the hassle.
Meanwhile, De Carton proves cardboard isn’t just for boxes. Their recyclable, modular event structures replace traditional plywood setups, reducing waste while still looking good and holding strong.
Not Just Green Talk Real Numbers, Real Impact
Sayang Green walks the talk. The event’s carbon footprint was measured under ISO 14064-1, clocking in at 12.56 tonnes of CO₂ equivalent.
By using cardboard-based infrastructure instead of plywood, emissions could be reduced by up to 3–4 times, thanks to lighter transport, easier setup and better recyclability.

ASEAN Records? Yes, That Happened
The event didn’t just feel impactful it made history.
- Alliance Bank was recognised by ASEAN Records for creating the first consumer bazaar with environmentally friendly principles applied across all zones.
- De Carton earned a spot for building the first ESG consumer bazaar using recyclable cardboard infrastructure, all supplied by a single provider.
