A 12-foot-long giant alligator was found near a home in Alabama after the area was hit by Hurricane Sally. The frightening incident is believed to have occurred Wednesday morning in the floodwaters outside a house in Gulf Shores, Alabama.

A video recorded by a resident, Tina Lambert Bennett shows the giant alligator calmly through the flood-hit area.

“I went upstairs to survey the damage to our property as well as the neighbor’s boat dock I happened to look down and see this giant in our yard,” Bennett told CNN.

According to CNN, Bennett said that Hurricane Sally that hit the area was a Category 2 hurricane that initially carried strong winds.

“Last night it hit us from the land side so strong winds tore part of our roof off and caused power outages and other damages. It also caused the surrounding canals to overflow and fill the marshlands,” she said.

“Today the tide came in off the bayside with the surge and the water rose so quickly from that side. That’s when our property became submerged and snakes and alligators began looking for a place to hunker down, “added Bennett.
