The six resorts include three in Kanchanaburi, West of Bangkok, one in Nakhon Nayok, North of Bangkok, and one in Petchaburi, south of the Thai capital plus one in Chiang Mai.
“Golf is a major draw in Thailand’s tourist offering with more than 250 golf courses disseminated all over the country,” said Benoit Badufle, a luxury tourism expert at Horus consulting firm. “The open-air setup and private villas make the propagation of the Covid-19 less likely while attracting a high-contribution clientele.”
Thailand has had relatively few cases of Covid-19. So far there have been 11,262 cases with 69 deaths. But the second wave and the clusters emerged in December. Thailand is struggling and wanting to save its tourism industry.
The Luxury
Based on the experience of 41 Korean businessmen who arrived in Thailand, we could see what is happening inside the resorts.
Heo Kwang-eum, a 66-year-old businessman is happy with Thailand’s initiative. He recommends other countries adopt the campaign. It could boost the tourism industry. Plus, improving people’s morals from being cooped up at home all the time.
“It’s extremely hard to go golfing in Korea these days because of COVID,” said Heo. He is spending another month in the country due to quarantine. “Here it’s a golf paradise.”
